Update – August 2026 I tore the WL Ancestors website down. ALL information on that website can now be found under Exploring > Genealogy. Also look to tags for specifics: ancestors, grandparents, great grandparents, great great grandparents, Leslie, Wallace, and so on. Last year I told you about my famous relatives. Now let me introduce…
Ancestors
Hugh Wallace & Mary Reid
As of December 2024, this is my biggest brick wall. They are a mysterious couple, and while there are records from their lifetimes, the records are scarce and hard to read. I got a clue about this pair from an OPR record shared by a fellow Wallace descendant. That’s the OPR birth record of Thomas…
Wheeler Family Genealogy
The Wheeler family of Argyle, Sanilac, Michigan, USA has roots in New York, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. The earliest relative I have is a James Wheeler. I’m sure there are more Wheeler relatives, but that is out of the scope of the researched published here. There are other people who’ve done much more research on…
Leslie Family Genealogy

Most of my information comes from the Jickling Journal and Jickling Jam that came from the long gone AngelFire website. For many years Sue Hobbs maintained the site and…
Hillaker Family Genealogy
The Hillaker’s in my family tree are from the small town of Bonfeld in Germany. But they were in New York state for a long time before coming to Michigan. In March 2024 I was fiddling around on FamilySearch.org as you do (well, as you do as a genealogist) and I played around with their…
Leslie Family Photos
Here are some photos of my Leslie ancestors. I will update this page as more interesting photos come my way.
