It’s that time of the Midwest winter when cabin fever takes hold. Every day is the same, and there’s always more snow and freezing temperatures on the way.

Sometimes I read like a demon during this time of the year. Sometimes I do nothing. Or, I seem like I’m doing nothing until I stop to think about it.
Cabin fever, therefore, is like a tulip bulb under the snow-covered garden bed. It’s fallow, but not really. Some highlights.
- I got a good bill of health from my doctor. I’m a very lucky almost 63-year-old in that I have no diseases to manage at this point in my life.
- Good review with my financial specialist. I am maintaining the old work IRA and opening the new work 401K. (Old & new work? Yes, my employer was acquired in 2024 & I have a new employer. I still work from home – thank goodness.)
- I’ve shoveled enough snow for the year, thank you. But there’s always more so…
Less Mundane More Spiritual
I’m taking the Level 1 Metatron Colour Healing course from Amanda Ellis through Angelic Celestial Colours. I’ve followed Amanda’s work on social media (YouTube, Instagram, Facebook) for years and have a deep respect for her work. I have many of the colorful sprays, too.

Angelic Celestial Colours
The sprays are a combination of angelic, sacred geometry, and color frequencies. They are spiritual tools used to connect to archangel Metatron, Michael, and others – as well as simply connect to your own, personal feelings. They also smell divine!
Going Places
While winter is a time of going stir crazy, spring is a time of going, going, going.
- I’m going over to Bay City for a quick overnight with a friend to celebrate my birthday. And then back again in August, but that’s still up in the air.
- I’m going to Grand Rapids to see the Neal Diamond musical “A Beautiful Noise” with a different friend. Need to get clear on those details soon!
- I’m going to Lansing to see the musical “Chicago” with family.
- I’m going back to Edinburgh again — oops, I let that cat out of the bag, didn’t I?
Edinburgh Again?
I was just there in October so why am I going to back so soon? This time I’m going to march in the inaugural Edinburgh Tartan Day parade.
I was in the New York Tartan Day parade a couple of years ago, and it was so much fun. So I’m doing that all over again — except in Edinburgh. There’s something so special about being able to wear all my family tartans.
AND – the chance to do so while marching with a group of Bay City Roller fans IN THE CITY THE ROLLERS ARE FROM? Nothing but a chef’s kiss!
Exploring ChatGPT
I’ve been playing around with ChatGPT – perhaps the most popular AI software available. It has both a free and paid version; I only have the free version.
I treat ChatGPT like a good friend who knows everything about everything. I ask the friend a question, and I get an answer immediately. Sometimes that friend is spot on, and sometimes I have to tweak the answer to accommodate my preferences.
The book AI For Life by Celia Quillan is a good introduction to how AI can help with life. Because AI is advancing at light speed right now, the book is already almost out of date — and it was only just published! Still, it’s an excellent introduction and covers things like:
- What is AI and how do I get started?
- Writing AI prompts (which is really important)
- How to write prompts to help you create a travel itinerary, create recipes from existing ingredients, develop an exercise routine – and so much more.
- I’m happy to write more about AI if you’re interested – there’s so much to it!
There’s More To Life
That’s what I’ve been up to the last few weeks. What are you doing? Anything interesting on the horizon?
