Let’s bring 2023 to a close the same way we started: with books, of course. I love giving and receiving books for Christmas, so here is a round up of all the books I’ve read this year – and a few other suggestions, too.
I used Bookshop.org a lot this year for purchasing books. I even compared the experience and cost of shopping on Bookshop versus big book daddy Amazon and found little difference. Unless you’re an Amazon Prime member where books show up at your doorstep almost as fast as you can order them.
(Disclosure: All of the links to books are Bookshop.org affiliate links. If you click through the link and finalize a purchase, I earn a commission.)
Still, Bookshop is fabulous because they “connects readers with independent booksellers all over the world. More specifically, they given over 80% of their profit margin to independent bookstores.
Here are the books that I read in 2023 that are available at Bookshop. And if you can’t decide what book to give someone, try a gift card.
My Favorite Books of 2023
More Than Books
Bookshop has more than books: there are puzzles, notecards, games, and so much more.
Metaphysics for Everyone
Winter is a fabulous time to dive deep into understanding yourself and the world. Here are some of my favorite metaphysical books.
I’d be remiss when mentioning metaphysical books if I didn’t include my meditation teacher, Gayle Clayton’s books. While it’s not on Bookshop, I strongly recommend Transformative Meditation, too.
Bookshop doesn’t have all of the books in the world. Here are some of the books I read in 2023 that are not available at Bookshop.
- She I Dare Not Name: A Spinster’s Meditations on Life by Donna Ward.
- The War of Art: Winning The Inner Creative Battle by Steven Pressfield
- A Place in the Country by Laura Shaine Cunningham
- The Secret of Magic by Deborah Johnson.
What am I looking forward to reading in 2024? Here are a few books I have lined up to read in the new year.
That’s A Lot Of Books
Whew! That’s a lot of books, isn’t it? But they really are one of my favorite things to give as a gift and to receive. What books are you giving this year? What’s on your to read list for 2024?
